This fall saw a wide range of precipitation conditions; the northern portions of the Chesapeake Bay watershed had an abnormally dry season, while the southern and eastern portions of the watershed experienced above normal precipitation. These patterns continued from the summer season. The majority of the Mid-Atlantic region experienced higher than normal temperatures, particularly due to a warmer than average November.
NOAA’s Mid-Atlantic RISA Team (MARISA) created this outlook in partnership with NOAA’s Regional Climate Services Program to inform the public about recent climate impacts within their respective regions. Each regional report contains easy-to-understand language, and anyone can access them through the Drought Portal.
