National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Northeast Regional Climate Center (NRCC)
Source/Originator
Northeast Regional Climate Center (NRCC)
Description
This gridded dataset consists of daily station data available via ACIS Web Services interpolated to a 30 arc second grid.
Interpolation Method
Station data for AM reporting stations are interpolated using the Natural Neighbor Method. (Prior to 1981, no filtering for AM reporters is done due to insufficient data coverage.)
Spatial Resolution
DEM grid definition (1/120 degree, 0.5 minutes, 30 arc seconds). Nominal 5km x 5km grid at the equator; dimensions are smaller at higher latitudes.
Temporal Resolution
Daily
Domain
Lower 48 US states (-125°, 24° to -66°, 50°) masked to within a few grid points of the land.
Date Range
1950-present
Variables
Daily maximum and minimum temperature (to 0.1 degree F) and precipitation (to 0.01 inch) for the 24 hours ending at 12Z.
Metadata
Latitude, longitude, and elevation of each grid point are available.
Update Frequency
Source Update Frequency: Updated multiple times a day and are available when sufficient data are available.
ACIS Update Frequency: Same.
Quality Control
No ACIS QC is performed on this dataset.
